Serving the Fort Wayne Community
FWAC in Action: Voter Education and Civic Engagement
We are social action in motion! September 10, 2024, we were honored to hold our 2nd Annual Delta Day with the Mayor, where we had the opportunity to learn directly from city leadership about the ways we can work together to improve our community. These discussions were not only inspiring but also motivated us to continue our efforts toward meaningful civic engagement and change. It's time to roll up our sleeves and get to work!

Fort Wayne Alumnae Chapter Reflects on Voter Registration Success
On Sunday, September 15, the Fort Wayne Alumnae Chapter, in collaboration with the League of Women Voters, hosted a highly successful voter registration drive at six local Black churches in honor of National Voter Registration Day. Throughout the day, we connected with over 100 individuals to verify their voter registration status and proudly registered 25 new voters! The event was a powerful day of community engagement, education, and action, and we are grateful to Redemption Church, New Covenant Worship Center, Pilgrim Baptist Church, New Zion Tabernacle Church, Mt. Calvary Missionary Baptist Church, and Union Baptist Church for their support and participation. We’re thrilled with the impact we made and remain committed to empowering our community through civic engagement. Thank you to all who helped make this day a success! Stay tuned for more opportunities to get involved in future voter registration efforts! |

Blessed to Be a Blessing: A Christmas Miracle for a Local Family
On December 24, 2019, the Fort Wayne Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated, had the incredible honor of delivering a heartwarming Christmas blessing to a deserving local family of five. The holiday season is a time for giving, and with that spirit in mind, Santa’s Delta elves were hard at work to ensure this family experienced a memorable and joy-filled holiday.
This initiative wasn't just about providing material goods; it was about demonstrating the love, care, and solidarity that exists within our community. As a chapter, we believe in the power of giving back and making a positive impact on the lives of others. By coming together, we were able to embody the true meaning of Christmas and share the blessings we have received with others.

FWAC at the Great American Cleanup - A clean city makes a difference!
The Great American Cleanup - the nation’s largest community improvement program that Fort Wayne has participated in for over 20 years. Fort Wayne Deltas came to show our community pride by lending a hand to clean up littered roadsides, parks, trails and river ways. It looks better to residents and visitors and improves the overall quality of life. Litter, graffiti, unkempt parks and trails, and scattered debris create unsightly areas that would give visitors the wrong impression. Through the work of volunteers, we can come together and show how much we care about Fort Wayne’s neighborhoods and public spaces. Transforming lives, Impacting Communities.
"Without community service, we would not have a strong quality of life. It's important to the person who serves as well as the recipient. It's the way in which we ourselves grow and develop." - Dorothy Height
Let's not forget the Fort Wayne Deltas came out and showed out in assisting with the Habitat for Humanity.
Fort Wayne Deltas were the final Women Build group of the season! We helped with picking up construction debris, opening new appliances, sweeping, cutting and laying base boards and various other tasks as our local Habitat for Humanity completes 2 homes in a neighborhood where they’ve built over 40 homes in 6 years! We also met one of the owners and spent time with her in her home that will be finished in 2 weeks! FWAC Serving the community - Habitat Restore!

2017 Coat Drive with Fort Wayne Police Department
The Fort Wayne Alumnae Chapter (FWAC) of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated, recently participated in the 5th Annual Fall Harvest Children's Coat Collection and Giveaway event, continuing our mission of service and community support. This wonderful event, which is dedicated to ensuring that children in our community are prepared for the cold weather ahead, is one that we are proud to support each year. Our chapter was deeply involved in this year’s coat drive, helping with everything from organizing donations to distributing coats. Volunteers worked together to sort through hundreds of coats, ensuring that each one was in excellent condition and ready to be given to a deserving child. In addition to sorting and organizing, FWAC members personally helped families pick out the perfect coat for their children, ensuring that each child found something that fit both their size and style |
